About Us

We grew up reading books. It's a lifelong passion that was cultivated and fostered by the readers in our family. The reason that we've been able to build a successful online book business is simple: we love books. And ultimately thats what Revolving Books is all about - sharing a love for literature and advocating for the timeless connection created through reading.

  • How We Started

Revolving Books began as a small time side hustle fueled by our love of hunting for great books. We wanted to recirculate forgotten volumes and bring them out of dusty thrift stores or basement collections and back into people's hands so that they could be read and enjoyed.
  • Finding Our Community

When we started our Instagram page, we never imagined that it would gain as big of an audience as it has. For us, the most fulfilling part about selling books and creating content is having the ability to connect with like minded readers all across America. We are honored to have the support and patronage that we do, and the community that we continue to build is profoundly meaningful.
  • Our Aspirations

We've recently moved into an office space in downtown Lincoln. Brick and mortar, while not imminent, is still an aspiration on the horizon. If we can create a place within our community for people to share books and connect with each other through literature, then we will have achieved our greatest goal. Beyond expanding the bookstore, we aspire to travel more frequently and connect with readers throughout the world. We also want to engage with writers and thinkers who inspire us, as well as work on our own writing.

My reading journey has sprawled in many different directions that I wouldn’t have originally foreseen. But thats exactly the beauty of a life immersed in books - endless exposure to new ideas and perspectives which constantly stimulate one’s imagination. In many ways, I consider the original topic that sparked all of my subsequent reading to be depth psychology. Not just Freud and Jung, but all of the multitudinous branches that they spawned as well. My interests have always coalesced around two primary fields, those being psychology and politics. And those interests have influenced the direction of much of my reading, including when it comes to fiction. These books in particular are some that I feel best represent my taste in literature. I believe in reading as a vehicle for expanding one’s consciousness and the best kinds of books offer us both breadth of experience, and depth of insight. The books pictured here are some of my favorite discoveries thus far.

Mason's Shelves

Books are a fundamental component of my life, and the power they have is as profoundly insightful and fulfilling today as it was when I first discovered the books that awakened my passion for reading.  Curiosity without literature is a bike without pedals.  No matter the genre or subject matter, my reading has pursued an understanding of the so-called ‘way of the world’, an understanding that has always been a work in progress, moving from the cosmic to the mythic, from the individual to the collective, and from the (ir)rational to the real. The clockwork chaos of the universe evolved into the irreconcilable contradictions of humanity, worldviews came and went as I kept reading and what of each of them that remained has left me with more questions, and far far more books yet to read.  There have been millions of books written, enough to fill an entire lifetime with fascination and beauty, and the books pictured here are just a small selection of the ones that have made me, so far… - mason
